Lead Friendly

Lead Friendly vs Twilio

Twilio is the largest communications platform on the planet and the right tool for a huge class of problems. Lead Friendly is not Twilio. We're a finished AI sales calling product; Twilio is the building blocks you'd use to construct one yourself. Pick based on whether you want to buy or build.

For full disclosure: Lead Friendly is built on Telnyx + LiveKit, not on Twilio. We chose that stack on cost, international coverage, and 10DLC ergonomics — not because Twilio is bad infrastructure.

Choose Lead Friendly if…

  • • You want outbound AI calling working today, not in two months
  • • You don't have engineering time to build + maintain a comms stack
  • • You need TCPA / 10DLC / DNC enforced for you
  • • You want CRM, calendar, and pipeline included in the bill
  • • You're a solo founder or small sales team

Choose Twilio if…

  • • You have engineering bandwidth and want full control
  • • You need a use case Lead Friendly doesn't cover (transactional 2FA, custom IVR for an existing product, WhatsApp)
  • • You already own a CRM and don't want a bundled one
  • • You need international SMS at scale beyond US-Canada
  • • You're embedding voice into an existing product, not selling outbound

Frequently asked questions

Is Lead Friendly built on top of Twilio?

No. Lead Friendly uses Telnyx for telephony and LiveKit for the SIP / WebRTC layer, not Twilio. We chose Telnyx for better international coverage, more transparent pricing, and a deeper 10DLC management API.

When does Twilio make more sense than Lead Friendly?

Twilio is the right call when you have an engineering team, a use case Lead Friendly does not cover (e.g. transactional 2FA, custom IVR for an existing product, programmable WhatsApp), and the budget to own the build, ongoing maintenance, and compliance posture. Twilio is excellent infrastructure; it is not a finished sales product.

When does Lead Friendly make more sense than Twilio?

Lead Friendly wins when the goal is "outbound AI sales calling tomorrow" rather than "build a custom communications product over six months." You skip the integration project, get TCPA compliance enforced for you, and pay one bundled subscription instead of voice + SMS + AI Assistants + Flex + a CRM.

Can I keep my Twilio phone numbers and bring them to Lead Friendly?

Today the platform is configured for Telnyx numbers acquired in-app. Twilio number portability is on the roadmap. Email hello@leadfriendly.com if this is a deal-breaker — we have built one-off bridges for customers in this position.

How does the total cost compare?

For a typical solo SDR or small sales team running ~500 outbound minutes/month, Lead Friendly Pro at $99/mo lands well below the equivalent Twilio voice + SMS + AI Assistants usage + a CRM seat (HubSpot Sales Hub Pro is $100/seat). The break-even shifts as you scale or add custom integrations Twilio supports natively.
