Lead Friendly vs Ruby
Ruby answers your calls with live receptionists, from $250 a month for 50 minutes. Lead Friendly answers with an AI agent from $49 a month and adds a CRM, texting and outbound lead calls. The deciding question is whether your callers need a person.
Prices were read from each vendor's own pricing page on October 14, 2026. We list where Ruby is the better choice, not just where we are.
Bottom line
Choose Ruby if your callers are sensitive, upset or expect a person, and the calls are valuable enough to justify ten times or more the price per minute. Choose Lead Friendly if most calls are routine, you want after-hours and overflow covered, and you want booking, texts and a CRM in the same subscription. Many businesses run the AI first and transfer the hard calls to a person.

Frequently asked questions
Is an AI receptionist cheaper than Ruby?
Per minute, yes by a wide margin at the published prices, but you are buying different things. Ruby sells trained people on the phone; Lead Friendly sells software that answers, books, texts back and keeps the CRM. The table compares the two at 100, 200 and 500 calls using the same minutes, and Ruby’s overage is not stated on its page.
When is Ruby the better choice?
When callers are upset, the calls are sensitive or high-stakes, or your callers expect a person: some legal, medical and professional-services offices. Ruby’s people also handle judgment calls that nobody has written down.
Can I use both?
Yes. A common setup is AI first for routine calls and after-hours, with a transfer to a person on your team or to a live service for the calls that need one.
Does Ruby use AI?
Its pricing page says optional AI enhancements are available on all plans at no extra cost, and lists AI-powered transcripts and sentiment analysis. It does not say an AI answers the call by itself.
What does Lead Friendly add that Ruby does not list?
A built-in CRM, texting and follow-up with compliance checks before each send, outbound calls to new leads and a free trial. Ruby’s pricing page does not describe those, which is not the same as saying Ruby cannot do them.
