Lead Friendly vs Matador

Matador sells car dealerships five AI agents (lead engagement, live replies, follow-up, phone answering and website chat) that work alongside the CRM and DMS you already run. Lead Friendly puts the phone agent inside its own dealer CRM, with inventory, photos, a desk and a website, at a published price on month-to-month terms.

Everything about Matador below was read from its own website on October 18, 2026. We list where Matador is the better choice, not just where we are. Verify on their site before you buy; vendors change plans without telling anyone.

Bottom line

Matador is an AI layer, deep on integrations, with a service-lane agent, 180-day follow-up and a dedicated success manager; it publishes no price, and its llms.txt states a six-month minimum. Lead Friendly is the CRM as well as the phone agent and does not write to a DMS. Pick Matador if the AI has to live inside eLead, VinSolutions, DealerSocket or your DMS across sales and service; pick Lead Friendly if you want the whole front office of an independent lot in one subscription.

Frequently asked questions

Is Lead Friendly a Matador alternative?

For the AI that answers calls and works leads, yes. They differ in what the AI sits inside. Matador says it is not a CRM and works alongside the one you already run, so it is an overlay; Lead Friendly is the CRM, the phone agent, inventory, photos, desk and website in one place. If your CRM and DMS are staying and you want agents across sales, service and chat on top of them, Matador is built for that. If you want one subscription for the front office of an independent lot at a published price, Lead Friendly is.

How much does Matador cost?

As of October 2026 Matador does not publish a price on the pages we opened; the call to action is a demo. Its llms.txt says subscriptions carry a six-month minimum commitment, and its Terms say the term is whatever the order form sets and renews automatically unless either party gives written notice at least 30 days before it ends (verify on their site). Ask for the monthly figure, what it covers per agent and per rooftop, and the exit terms. Lead Friendly publishes its dealer price: $349 a month ($279 a month on annual) plus a one-time $500 setup fee, with 1,800 AI voice minutes and 2,500 texts included, month to month.

Does Matador replace my CRM?

No. Matador’s own llms.txt says it is conversational AI that works alongside the dealership’s existing CRM, naming eLead, VinSolutions, DealerSocket and Xtime as certified partnerships. If you want to replace the CRM as well as add AI, that is the case for Lead Friendly, which includes its own CRM and does not write to a DMS.

Which one handles TCPA better?

Both say they handle it. Matador describes TCPA-safe practices including opt-out handling, consent awareness, message timing controls and suppression rules, and links a TCPA document; Lead Friendly enforces quiet hours, STOP opt-outs and your do-not-call list before any call or text leaves; consent and National Do Not Call Registry checks stay with you, and federal and state do-not-call scrubbing of any list you upload is your obligation. Whichever you pick, ask the vendor to show you the check running, not describe it.

Does a single used-car lot need Matador, or a CRM with the AI built in?

A single used-car lot without a service lane or a franchise CRM often does not need agents layered over a CRM it may not have; it needs the phone answered and leads followed up in a system it already owns. Lead Friendly is that. A larger or service-heavy store with eLead, VinSolutions or DealerSocket in place, wanting recall checks and Xtime booking, is Matador’s shape.
